Today’s theme is… God’s grace changes everything #elcayg2018
Thursday's theme at the Youth Gathering was God's love changes everything. Each of the evening's speakers reinforced the theme... Caroline Meeker: "God never gives us hardships, he promises to always be there." Rev. Allen Fuller: "Loving people like God loves us isn't easy. It takes courage. It's a commitment. And it takes vulnerability. But it's worth it." Deacon Erin Power: "And in this world that says some are in and some are out, we need to hear again and again, 'This is your home. I see you. You belong.' Because the love of God changes us. The love of God changes everything." Marlon Hall: "God’s love and heartbeat are here and have been since the beginning of time. It’s the love of God that will remain when all things pass away." Caroline Meeker: "God never gives us hardships, he promises to always be there." Pictures from Jeanette.

Grace was scheduled to participate in this fair to help support our Youth going the the National Youth Gathering in Houston this summer. The good news is, we have found another Craft Fair at the Talbot County Community Center on Route 50. It is an INDOOR event, and we contacted them and will have a table there. The main purpose is to sell raffle tickets for the beautiful quilt, but we will have a selection of items for sale too. Please spread the word and tell your friends. The community center is very excited to be hosting this event and are hoping for a good turn out. The new Craft fair will be held from 7:00a-11:00a at the Talbot County Community Center on Route 50, by Hiners Lane.

The founder of Black Liberation Theology, died last weekend of cancer. The Rev. Dr. James Cone, though not a Lutheran, spoke to Christians everywhere about the need to tear down racial boundaries both inside and outside of the church. He was the voice of many clergy of all denominations back in the late '60s and '70s who were leading the good fight to apply the Gospels to the racial crisis of those times while facing pushback from their religious establishment. That fight continues. Dr. Cone fought on through his writing even unto this year when his final work will be published posthumously. "“Hope,” he told the Jesuit magazine America in 2006, “is found where two or three small groups of people . . . become willing to bear witness to the Gospel’s transcending racial bonding and move toward human bonding. We need some signs of that transcending. Where will they come from if not from the church? And how will these signs be expressed, except by preachers and priests and rabbis?” Amen.
This Sunday we remember and celebrate Jesus as the Good Shepherd. Since Aprill 22 is also Earth Day, we will pray God's protection on seed, soil and water, farmers, gardeners and field workers. Indeed this is our prayer, our plea and our song. Lord, have mercy and answer me.

"Jesus, Our Lord is Crucified" by Maxine Posegate as sung by the Grace Lutheran Church Choir for Good Friday 2016.
Our Choral Introit Easter Sunday 2015. O Sons and Daughters arranged by Martha Jones Burford.
The anthem this morning at Easter Worship, "Easter" composed by Roland E. Martin with text by George Herbert. Rise heart; thy Lord is risen. Rise heart! Sing His praise Without delays, Who takes thee by the hand, that thou likewise with Him mayst rise: That as His death calcined thee to dust, His life may make thee gold, and much more just. Awake, my lute, and struggle for thy part With all thy art. The cross taught all wood to resound His name, Who bore the same. His stretched sinews taught all strings what key Is best to celebrate this most high day. Consort both heart and lute, and twist a song Pleasant and long: Or, since all music is but three parts vied And multiplied, Oh, let Thy blessed Spirit bear a part, And make up our defects with His sweet art.
The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ chanted by Karen Larson, Pete Lesher and Kevin Thomas with choral parts by Tomas Luis de Victoria performed by the choir of Grace Lutheran Church on Good Friday 2015
